After extensive research into both funding tree plantations and donating money to ongoing climate change projects, we decided upon undertaking our own woodland project with the inclusion of publicly available walkway as an area for exercise, relaxation and connection with nature which has been proven to improve mental and general health, incorporating our environmental, community and mental health goals in a single project.
We began discussions with Indi Woods & Woodland Trust. They explained how planting trees can also help us as a business to reduce our carbon footprint.
An acre of trees has the ability to extract 5-tonnes of carbon dioxide and up to 13 tonnes of other particles and gases annually. A single tree can absorb up to 1 tonne of carbon over 40-years which equates to erasing 11,000 miles of car emissions.
